Day 4- Jan Ernst Matzeliger

Black History Month-  Feb. 4

Yesterday's Answer:  Black women  hair products and cosmetics

Today's Question:

Jan Ernst Matzeliger "was an inventor of Surinamese and Dutch descent best known for patenting this  machine.  He was born in Paramaribo (now Suriname) in 1852. and  settled in the United States in 1873 and trained as this apprentice. In 1883, he patented a machine that increased the availability of these items and made it more affordable for everyone. .  He died of tuberculosis on August 24, 1889."*

What machine did he make?  The Integrity dolls have some of these beautiful items.

  1. Hmmm, so I see 1 camera and a megaphone, but then that wouldn't be it because you said "some of these beautiful items." So it must be a machine to make something that they are wearing. I don't think it was the sewing machine, so maybe something to do with shoes, since they are all wearing shoes. Any way, you have a great collection of IT dolls there. I see you got Tobias too. Isn't he great?!

  2. Thank You. I agree that Tobias is great but I had a hard time taking his hands off to get his clothes on. The clothes are nice.
